Irish musician, “Tabby Daly” writer and co‑director, Conor Kilkelly, announces his sophomore dark folk album, “Solip“, set for release on May 2, 2026.

Kilkelly, the musical project of Conor Kilkelly, is firmly rooted in dark folk and the Irish narrative tradition. “Solip” expands the atmospheric and moral landscape explored in his award-winning famine-era short film, “Tabby Daly“, which recently won Best Irish Short at Spook Screen Film Festival in Cork, and whose soundtrack is taken from the upcoming Kilkelly album.

Following the success of Irish Famine drama, Tabby Daly, at film festivals including Irish Film Berlin, Fastnet, and Louth International Film Festival, Solip draws on similar themes of survival, moral ambiguity, and the shadows of the human condition. Sparse, brooding, and experimental, the album blends traditional Irish instrumentation with unusual textures — bodhrán filled with pennies, bowed banjo, shamisen — alongside violins, cellos, and choir.

Tabby Daly’s opening piece “Ferry Lights” is taken from ‘Solip’, lamenting the departing “coffin ships” of emigration:
“Ferry lights lead our sailors in… farewell our young men… for wealth, for war, foreign…”
The record carries the lineage of Lankum and Lisa O’Neill while embracing experimental textures reminiscent of later-period Tom Waits.
The album will be released on vinyl at a secret Berlin venue on May 2nd and will stream worldwide on the same date. Journalists can stream or pre-save the album below.
