It’s been over four years since a follow up to debut Kilkelly album, ‘The Prick & The Petal’, was released at this beautiful church – so it’s a fitting space to debut the first single, ‘Dogbite’ off new album ‘Solip’ be released later this year.
Kilkelly will be joined by a full band on the night, who will debut a whole set of new songs from ‘Solip’, before they carry on their “Church Tour of Germany”, playing Leipzig & Cologne churches as part of Zeitgeist Irland 24, an initiative of Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland in Germany. The band will take the tour to France and Switzerland.
Kilkelly & Band have been a staple of the dark folk and blues scene of Berlin since 2017. Seamlessly mixing lamentful songs, murder ballads, and lively experimental tones – honing a unique repertoire of originals, coupled with a live experience that’s garnered them a cult following in the city – equally at home backing a burlesque performance, as a choir in church, it’s the line between the light and dark, they thread so well that leaves a lasting impression.
