Bless Yourself – Press Release

“Bless Yourself” is the latest release from cult Berlin-based, Irish songwriter, Kilkelly.

This dystopia-tinged, release, has a narrative structure, which features three women – one falling from a building, Greta Thunberg & Margaret Thatcher.

There is a reference to maligned nature of Otherness, and the evils of the world – being whitewashed in the West, depicting itself sanctimoniously as a moral leader.

All the while, true moral leaders like Greta, are mocked as they cry for all of our fates in front of the UN.

This release has been pushed forward due to the peril that Greta faces fronting the Flotilla.

The song was performed, recorded and filmed live at The Famous Gold Watch, Berlin. And subsequent additions of a church organ, played at a Berlin cathedral, and a choir featuring Lotta St. Joan came later.

The hope of the song is to bolster support for our better angels, without falling victim to misled ideas of moral superiority in a Western culture, still reeling in the latent effects of Thatcherism –extreme individualism, dog eat dog ‘free’-market narratives, or as she simply put it herself, “society doesn’t exist”, which Kilkelly directly references in the song.

The song is released on the 18th of Oct, the same date Kilkelly will join Wallis Bird and Dee Mulrooney (Growler) for a fundraiser concert in Berlin in support of a school in Gaza.
